One of my roles as a [peculiar] Librarian is to work on The Kildare Readers Festival and recently, in closing the festival with a fabulous fringe event, we co-hosted The Dubliners Dilemma in partnership with The Riverbank Arts Centre.
This one-man show is an adaptation of James Joyce’s collection of short stories, Dubliners, performed by award-winning playwright and actor, Declan Gorman. Through letters between Joyce and his publisher, Grant Richards, the stage is set for a mesmerizing performance as Gorman brings to life several of the characters from the book’s stories. Both adults and children, each personality is animated precisely to manifest through the actors non-stop energised performance, constantly entertaining as the audience races with the performance through a gamut of emotions. Superb.
The show is now on its final tour, check for details here…and don’t miss it!!
