The Librarian’s Cellar: At the Cinema: Older Than Ireland

I had the pleasure of attending a special screening of Alex Fegan’s (The Irish Pub) new documentary, Older Than Ireland. Introduced by Miriam O’Callaghan, and with the director and most of the centenarian cast and their families present, the film is an insightful and entertaining study that features the oldest Irish person on record, 113-year-old Kathleen Snavely,  Ireland’s oldest man, 108-year-old Luke Dolan, as well as an awesome cast of inspiring characters, all 100 years old, and all from various parts of Ireland.

Coming soon to the Lighthouse Cinema, I highly recommend that you go see it. Through shared recollection, it is a delightful, though sometimes poignant journey of reminiscence and social history; you will laugh, and yes, you will cry, you will be reminded as to why it is great to be Irish – and it might just restore you faith in humanity!
